Our BEST Stellars

From the outset the focus was on brewing high quality premium craft beers in accordance with the most popular international brewing styles. Only the finest ingredients are used. The malt, for instance, is imported from Belgium, whilst the yeast used is specifically produced by the Department of Microbiology at the University of the Free State.

Each of the beer brands has a strong connection to the region.

Stellar Brewery’s passion for quality stout led them to create the recipe for Noctis Stout. An abundance of speciality malts used in brewing Noctis results in chocolate, coffee and dark fruit undertones in this beer as rich and full-bodied as the star-filled night sky in the heart of South Africa. This stout is of an exceptional quality, and drinking it a one of a kind experience. 6.0% ALC.  IBU 30

The Mangaung Gold is a premium lager, with a refreshing but not overwhelming hop character and medium bitterness. The presence of caramel malt renders it a smooth, malty finish. The taste lingers on the palate, reminding of the beautiful Free State sunsets, leaving a lasting impression. 5.2% ALC

Another beer firmly rooted in the soil of the region is the African Queen Single Hop IPA (India Pale Ale), that has been brewed with one of the most acknowledged South African hops - African Queen. These hops, specifically created for IPAs, contributes lemongrass, gooseberry and blackcurrant notes, exploding with taste and culture. Every sip is a celebration! 6.0% ALC.  IBU 45

Patiently matured for 10 weeks, Desert Ale is given a chance to fully develop Irish Red Ale style characteristics. Hints of caramel, dark berry notes and a touch of roast unite to create each drop of this malty ale, ideally enjoyed around a camp fire in the Kalahari Dessert, which is not too far away in the neighbouring Northern Cape province. 5.5% ALC. The team behind it all

The roots of Stellar Brewery can be traced back to the friendship between two schoolboys, which started in 1975 at Grey College in Bloemfontein. And the crafted beer and gin produced by Stellar Brewery in Bloemfontein today, flows with the companionship and loyalty of this friendship that withstood the test of time.

Stellar is also deeply rooted in the rich, fertile soil of the Free State province, called by many the heartland of South Africa. Hence names like Oliewen Weiss, Mangaung Gold and Free State Lager, in which the heartbeat of the region resounds.
